Since its inception in 2003 – Brierfield Action in the Community has been successful in securing funding to deliver a number of community based initiatives. It has delivered a very successful ICT project – which has helped other smaller projects come alive – Youth based projects, Community Safety, Governance, and Leadership.


Current Projects

New Horizons

Initiated back in 2004 but is now the core work of the organisation

  • I.T. facilities; for local residents
  • Provide various courses to help develop skills
  • Help with job seeking skills C.V.'s, letter writing and general advice and guidance
  • Help with basic life skills, such as literacy, numeracy and ESOL
  • Increase your confidence and skills to get qualifications for work
  • Interview Workshops
  • One-to-one sessions
  • Employability Skills Programme

Leadership

This project is in its third year – the aim of this particular project is to work with young people across Pendle developing their confidence in tackling conflict. It supports young through a 5-8 week leadership type programme, delivered from our own office.

It targets both male and females across Pendle, working alongside some of the key agencies, Young people Services, Police, Pendle Borough Council, Schools, colleges and Mosques.


Youth Engagement

This project supports young people who are seeking employment, training or wanting to go into education, the worker devises specialised workshops for these young people, with support from a number of training providers.


Evolve - Pendle

This project is working in partnership with Pendle Borough Council; Evolve is a web based tool which enables users to access information about local services and agencies. It also enables individuals to search for employment opportunities and training. All the latest local events that are happening around Pendle are uploaded on a daily basis.
